Analytical review of Ukrainian Stock
Exchange activity in August 2001
In August this year the increase of participants' activity on the secondary exchange
market is observed. During the accounting period the transactions on sale of the bills of
the domestic legal persons for the sum of 3,7 million dollars were made. In the primary
exchange market the transactions on purchase of the shares of the Ukrainian joint-stock
companies were made which are placed during a privatization, for the sum of 613 thousand
dollars. Also on the primary exchange market the transactions on purchase the bills, with
which the debts under the tax on obligatory state pension insurance are made out, made
23,5 thousand dollars. During August there were 30 trade sessions, on which were made the
transactions on purchase of 10,9 millions stocks on a total sum of 3,7 million dollars.
The increase Market Capitalization is explained by sale of the shares of the new
enterprises during a privatization at the price of greater than their nominal cost.
